Coming back is always the difficult part. I never know where I fit in when I climb off the plane. The part of me that is important belongs in Nova Scotia, the part of me the strives to do more than just survive belongs out here. I get so frustrated the day after coming back to Ottawa. It usually involves making baked goods, listening to David Bowie, staring at the ceiling, wishing something other than Seinfeld was on tv, and excessive laundry/cleaning and being a self loathing prat. I end up over dramatizing everything because I believe everything should have some Freudian meaning. *sigh*… its like withdrawl. exactly like it. to a tee.
I just ‘finished’ a project for a friend here in Ottawa. It wasnt a high maintance piece, which was nice,but I felt like I took too long on it so I threw in free letterhead ontop of it. But she seems rather pleased that it turned out the way she wanted. Which was great.
Pink shirt to end Bullying
Recently in Nova Scotia a kid was picked on the first day of school, because he wore a pink polo shirt. Now there is a fairly large facebook group, spreading the word that tomorrow is “Wear a pink shirt to end bullying”. I invited a lot of my friend on face book to join. People Ive known a good portion of my life, who I know were picked on or singled out in high school. And they ALL rejected the invite. I am so livid. As someone who was picked on until high school, I think this is a very good cause, and it agrivates me to no end that others dont want to support this cause as well.
And i feel I have some grounds to be pissed, since everyone invites me to their lame ass causes and then gets pissed at me for not joining. Ooooh save the puppies at Dal. -_- thanks but Ive done my time doing social services, volunteering at shelters, baby sitting for free, being the clung one in a group of clingon children. But everyone at some point in time suffers some social humiliation, or gets beat up, or has their things stolen, or even gets talked about behind their back. And as a child its the end of the world, so we should be teaching kids its bad form to be degrading one another. … [/rant]

Today while I was at Venus Envy I bought a magnet for myself that outlined all of my birth signs negative qualities (in other words thiings one should work on). Surprisingly enough Im not many of those things. I can see myself having been many of them at one point in time, but not so much any more. Although I am still restless, sarcastic, cheap, flighty… ok so maybe Im a lot of those things, but damnit Im CUTE (they forgot to list Vain and self centred)
I spent today baking. So far Ive made banana bread, and chocolate snack cake. Right now I am trying ot find a recipe for Apple snack cake. I know my mom brought it with her when they visited, but I cannot find it and its driving me nuts. Images tomorrow.
After baking all day I worked on a new idea of mine. A little 4 page glossy booklet highlighting all the really really good design Ive done in the last 2 years. So the tshirt designs, the billboards & foldy cards for CATAC, the festival books, the winter series brochures (etc), anda few business cards. With my sexy new grape leaf logo it will look sharp! I also added some little grapes to the bottom corners of the booklet its so super cute. Ill be sending it out with my physical resumes. Excitement!
Tomorrow I have to be up at 6-7 to leave my apt by to be at an event for 9 am til 4 pm -_- UGH. What a pain, but this is what I get for volunteering. Hey atleast it looks good.
